'FASHION PHOBIC' the Adelaide Magazine Sept 07

A reputation for brand loyalty, a discerning eye and classic silhouettes may be visible in Adelaide, but blind, fearful and fashionless we are not!
A designer label or media hype alone will not guarantee a sale in the city of churches.....nor will you see a fight for haute diffusion on the linoleum floor at Target Centrepoint.
Is it necessary to strut "boldly and brashly down the street", sporting an "eclectic ensemble" that "doesn't necessarily have to match" in order to prove one's style, individuality or fear level?
Looking 'fashion forward' doesn't always translate to looking 'fashionable'.
So, much to the horror of fashion journalist Damien Woolnough, my spring wardrobe won't be featuring any fluorescent purple lycra smock dresses. Not because I'm a fashion phobe, but because they look ridiculous.

'PAINT IT RED' US Vogue June 2007

I meet Poppy King in Australia maybe a decade ago, and our paparazzi photograph adorned my pinup board for years to follow. At our meeting there was no rock star boyfriend or Texan drawl...but, behind her 'Jerry Hallesque' fiery pout lay a confident, ambitious and truly genuine young woman. Her transformation from 'Aussie Misfit' to 'International Lipstick Queen', along with her attitude and self-belief served as a gentle inspiration to me during my own creative aspirations.

In the pages of a glossy magazine or in our own home town, women everywhere show us possibilities for our own lives we may have only ever dreamed of..so,

Reach for the lippy girls ..and reach for the stars!

"ALL TOO TASTEFUL" Harpers Bazaar, March 07

Once upon a time, making a fashion statement was about selecting the perfect ensemble to attend the theatre, a christening or perhaps when embarking on an overseas voyage. Fashion originality wasn't in making headlines but rather in the details....after all Jacqui Kennedy-Onassis always wore white gloves when travelling by plane.
Recently I was reminded how far fashion has spiraled from the graceful days of past. While in an airport departure lounge, I found myself surrounded by thread-bare trackydacks, hastily coifed ponytails and thongs both on foot and peaking above waistband.
Sadly, the ensembles chosen by some to make a fashion statement these days are possibly...miniskirts at weddings and jeans at black tie events. Original...Hardly. Inappropriate...Definitely!
Therefore, I do not share Rita Wilson's obvious dismay at the absence of red carpet adventurers and feathered swans posing for the paparazzi this Oscar's season. The true award wining originals are the ones making the perfect statement of understatement...ever present grace, elegance and classic styling. All too tasteful....Pleeeease!

"One Sexy Mother" HARPERS BAZAAR AUSTRALIA /Dec 06

Not very long ago, the scoreboard in the Denise Richards - 'Game of Life' was a no-brainer.
SWEET, INNOCENT & TRUSTING GLAMAZON STANDS BY HER MAN (DESPITE HIS MANY, MANY, MANY INDESCRETIONS).
Women around the globe joined her personal cheersquad on the sidelines. Devoted partners that had been left broken hearted symapathized with her situation and talked about her if she was one of their own.
According to PlayBoy model Denise, growing up in Illinois, she never came across a single prostitute or porn star, but maybe of greater concern.....is, in those shelted years I wonder if Denise was ever initiated into the ways of the sisterhood? That close group of gal pals that stick by each other and live by the all important mantra " Boys may come and go..but it is your friendships that last forever." When pictures surfaced of her cavorting with the husband of her longtime bosom buddy Heather LockLear ......the scoreboard above the field suddenly changed. Although Denise insists it had been " at least a few months" since she and Heather last spoke until she decided to hook up with her best mate's better half ...it was too late. The cheersquad once loyal to the sweet, innocent and trusting glamazon from Illinois had now gone home......home to hang out with their true girlfriends....to cheer for the friendships and the sisterhood they were sure would last forever.

"She's Got The Look" THE SUNDAY AGE /Sept 10, 2006

For Hollywood's young elite, life may imitate one never-ending photoshoot, but, if there isn't anybody worth knowing around to celebrate a perfectly styled fashion moment..does it cease to exist?
Papparazzi didn't exactly clamour to greet me as I exited my driveway this morning, despite the fact I was sporting a most fabulous 'Little House on the Prairie' come 'Memoirs of a Geisha' ensemble. So, tomorrow I'll be sure to throw my digital camera into my ridiculously oversized tote bag just in case....after all I may have my own personal a' la mode moment..one which would definitely rival any Rachel Zoe creation.
